Meatballs in Red Sauce
by Mizen Morales
Ingredients
- 500 gr ground beef
- 1/2 onion
- 150 grams of grated cheese
- 1 egg
- 5 tomatoes
- 1 cup water
- 1 or 2 chipotle peppers (optional)
- 2 tablespoons flour
Tools
- Grater
- Saucepan
- Stove
Steps
- 1. Prepare your meatballs10 min
In a bowl, add your ground meat, chop a small amount of onion into small cubes and add it, along with an egg, grated cheese, salt, pepper, and flour. Now mix everything together and shape the mixture into small meatballs. The flour helps keep your meatballs from falling apart while cooking.
- 2. Make the sauce8 min
In your blender, add 5 or 6 tomatoes cut in half or into quarters, a small piece of onion, and a chipotle pepper to give it a spicy kick (the chipotle is optional), and add half a cup or a full cup of water. Blend it and pour the mixture into the saucepan where you’ll cook your meatballs.
- 3. Cook15 min
Heat up your sauce, add 3 Knorr Swiss seasoning cubes, and stir so the sauce is well seasoned. Now, as it starts to get much hotter, add the meatballs one by one so they don’t pile up on top of each other and all cook thoroughly.
- 4. Last step10 min
Carefully turn each meatball with a spoon so it doesn’t fall apart and so it cooks all the way through. Remove one meatball and cut it in half; if it’s brown with no red in the middle, that means they’re all cooked. You can serve them with white or red rice and tortillas.
