Ingredients

  • 1 cup white rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1/4 onion

Tools

  • Slow cooker
  • Stove
  • Wooden spoon

Steps

  1. 1. Prepare rice3 min

Many people choose to rinse their rice, although it’s not required.

  2. 2. Cook6 min

Put some oil in your pot and let it heat up for about 3 minutes. Add the chopped onion and the rice, then stir constantly until the rice turns whiter or a light brown color.

  3. 3. Add water15 min

Now that your rice is the desired color, add two cups of water and a pinch of salt, then cover the pot with its lid. Make sure to keep it on low heat so that all the rice cooks through.

  4. 4. Last step3 min

Stir the rice until all the water has evaporated. Make sure the rice has puffed up and is tender when eaten, as shown in the pictures. If it’s not quite done, add about half a cup more water. That’s it—your white rice is ready. Bonus: You can add a can of chopped vegetables to your rice (optional).
