Mashed Potatoes
by Mizen Morales
Ingredients
- 6 or 7 potatoes (depending on size)
- Salt
- Butter
- Milk
- Parsley (optional)
Tools
- Saucepan
- Potato masher
Steps
- 1. Boil30 min
Place your potato in a saucepan to boil. To speed up the process, it’s important to peel and cut the potato into cubes so that it cooks more quickly. Wait 20 to 30 minutes, then pierce it with a fork; when the fork goes through the potato easily, it’s ready.
- 2. Mash5 min
After draining your potatoes, place them in a pot of your choice—since you’re going to mash or crush them—add a cube or two of butter, and stir everything well; the butter will melt from the heat of the potatoes.
- 3. Add milk3 min
To make the mashed potatoes creamier or smoother, add a few splashes of milk, salt to taste, and stir well again until it’s seasoned to your liking.
- 4. Bonus2 min
Some people add a little chopped parsley or cilantro for extra flavor (optional). Ham: You can also add ham, diced into small cubes, and stir it into the mash again (optional).
